Why Kyrgyzstan?
Where Beauty Has No Name
Kyrgyzstan. Unknown. Relentlessly harsh. Unthinkably beautiful. A country untouched by the tourist crowds, where even locals rarely wander. That's why some of its most beautiful places until recently didn't even have names.
However, we will be in experienced hands there. We’ll be in the company of videographer Martin Grahovski, the creator of the film Kyrgyzstan – A Cinematic Diary. We'll roam among majestic mountains and dizzying valleys, vast lakes and mighty rivers. We'll watch the flight of hunting eagles and lose ourselves in the boundless expanses. To find ourselves again.
And, captivated by the colours of the endless wilderness, where wild horses and Kyrgyz nomads roam, we will dream of the next time when we'll immerse ourselves in the fantastic landscapes of the Central Asian country, whose name translates to Land of the Forty Tribes.

Along the 'Silk Road'
Kyrgyzstan is a blend of a long-forgotten communist past, Islam, and a nomadic life in harmony with stunning nature. Through its territory, most of which is occupied by majestic mountains, once ran the most famous ancient intercontinental 'highway' – the Silk Road. During our journey, you will get a taste of the ancient traditions of Kyrgyz shepherds and feel the warm hospitality of the local people. You won't miss out on acquiring unique Kyrgyz souvenirs and will witness an authentic folk show.

Lakes and Mountains
The main characters in this journey will be several glacial, freshwater, and salt lakes, one of which is the second largest mountain lake in the world after Titicaca. The high mountain passes, which you will cross on foot, horseback, and by car, are truly awe-inspiring. In the Switzerland of Central Asia, as Kyrgyzstan is sometimes called due to its terrain, you will visit the capital, whose name means Mountain that Brings Happiness, and a ghost town; the Fairy Tale Canyon and a pasture called Carpet in translation; the Seven Bulls rocks and the Maiden's Braids waterfall. And who knows, you might even come up with an even more romantic name for this exhilarating adventure.

Absolutely! Most of the time, we'll be in isolated regions where we'll be completely safe. The cities have low crime rates, the people are friendly, and the hospitality is warm in the country.
What documents do I need for Kyrgyzstan?
For travelling to Kyrgyzstan, Bulgarian citizens need a valid passport and visa. Don't worry, the visa can be easily obtained online through Kyrgyzstan's electronic system. Just ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months after your entry date, and you're all set for adventures in this beautiful country!
What's the currency and how much money should I carry with me?
The currency in Kyrgyzstan is SOM. 1 Bulgarian BGN is equal to 42 Kyrgyz SOM.
Kyrgyzstan is a very affordable country to visit. Almost everything you need is covered in the tour, but it's usually recommended to bring an extra 300 euros for gifts and other expenses.
What kind of weather should I expect?
Summer in Kyrgyzstan is hot, but expect sub-zero temperatures in the mountains, even during the coldest months. Don't forget to pack warm clothes as we ascend to higher grounds, along with hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect from the high-altitude sun.
Are there any restrictions on how women should dress?
Broadly speaking, women are allowed to wear whatever they like in most parts of the country. Considering that we'll mostly be in isolated areas, this shouldn't be a major concern.
Should I carry medication in Kyrgyzstan?
Most of the route passes through isolated mountain regions, so it's a good idea to bring a personal first aid kit. Ibuprofen, stomach medications (like Imodium), and anything you usually carry when travelling are useful. If you need specific medications, take them from home.
Can you get mobile service and internet access?
Upon arriving at Bishkek airport, you can purchase an inexpensive SIM card for your stay.
Can I fly a drone in Kyrgyzstan?
Currently, there is no specific legislation for drones, but from 1st September 2025, new requirements will come into effect: mandatory drone registry, operator certificate, and restrictions on zones and altitude. Avoid airports (8 km), heliports (3 km), border areas, and military sites. Daylight hours only. Check the current status before your trip.
