Why South Korea?
She is proof that the best things come in small packages
From the glitzy capital of Seoul, which never sleeps, to the hikes in Seorak Mountain, South Korea offers travellers a stunning array of experiences, beautiful landscapes, and 5000 years of culture and history. Here, modernity and deep traditions meet among palaces, temples, unique art, and enchanting nature. And the delicious cuisine, with kimchi as the main star, will have you dreaming for more. Equally worthy is the thriving coffee culture, and the shopping—from markets to luxury malls—is always top-notch. The country's compact size is indeed an advantage—in a single day, you can climb a mountain and relax on a beach, get lost in a traditional village or have fun in the metropolis. In other words, South Korea has something for everyone. And maybe it's time for you to discover it.

About the Journey
I’m just wondering where our journey should begin.
Perhaps the most logical place to start is with the departure and final destination of our journey. The capital, Seoul, is a super-modern metropolis where traditions comfortably coexist. To experience a completely different, yet still Korean world, we'll journey to the Demilitarized Zone—a near-surreal place that divides one nation into two states.

And then we will return to experience the extraordinarily rich South Korean culture. The same can be said for nature, which will introduce us to towering mountains, peculiar rocks, a long cave, dormant volcanoes, and an island that is, quite literally, among the wonders of the world. Extreme adventures will be interspersed with visits to villages frozen in time, as we sample craft beer and organic tea. And after all that, the nightlife of the capital awaits us. And countless pleasures for all the senses, for which you can find more details in our programme.

Itinerary
Day 1
Seoul
We arrive at the airport in the South Korean capital, where our local representative will greet us. We check into the voco Seoul Myeongdong by IHG 4* hotel and, to say 'welcome', we head to a night bar to immerse ourselves in the first rhythms of Seoul.
Day 2
A Touch of North Korea and Korean Culture
After breakfast, we head north – towards Paju and the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the border strip between North and South Korea, which has become one of the most historically charged areas in the world.
We will visit the Imjingak Park, created with hopes of future reunification, where you'll also find the Bridge of Freedom, built at the time of the peninsula's division after the end of the Korean War.
Next, we descend into the Third Tunnel, dug by the North Koreans with the intention of secretly entering South Korea. We climb to the Dora Observatory, from where – on a clear day – you can see the ‘Propaganda Village’ in North Korea. Our last stop in the zone is Dorasan Station, a symbol of hope that one day there will be a direct connection between the two countries.
After lunch, we are in for a walk across the Gamak Mountain Suspension Bridge – Korea’s longest hanging bridge at 220 metres. It is named ‘The Gloucester Heroes Bridge’ in honour of the British soldiers from the Gloucestershire Regiment who fought in the war.
We return to Seoul and in the evening we will enjoy the NANTA show – a culinary, musical, and theatrical spectacle that embodies the Korean spirit and has catapulted many of today's film stars to fame.
We will end the day with a walk through the vibrant district of Myeongdong, famous for its street food, high-quality cosmetics, and unique urban atmosphere.
Overnight: voco Seoul Myeongdong by IHG 4*
Day 3
Palaces, Traditions, and Modern Seoul
After breakfast, we head towards the heart of historic Seoul - the Gyeongbokgung Palace, built in 1394. It is the largest and most impressive palace of the Joseon Dynasty era. Its name translates to 'Palace of Shining Happiness' - and we'll definitely feel why.
In this special place, we will have the opportunity to dress in traditional Korean costumes - hanbok, immersing ourselves even deeper into the atmosphere of the past.
We continue to Bukchon Hanok Village - a charming neighborhood where dozens of traditional Korean houses (hanok) are preserved and inhabited to this day. The streets here offer views worthy of a film set.
After lunch, we'll ascend to the N Seoul Tower, perched on Namsan Hill - a favorite spot for locals due to its panoramic views of the city.
To end the day, we'll wander through Seongsu-dong Café Street - an industrial district turned into Seoul's trendiest zone. Former factories and shoemaking workshops now host designer cafes, art spaces, and young creative brands. The place buzzes with energy, creativity, and the aroma of great coffee.
Overnight: voco Seoul Myeongdong by IHG 4*
Day 4
Jeju Island – a natural wonder and volcanic paradise
After breakfast, we leave the hotel and head towards Gimpo Airport for a domestic flight to Jeju Island (duration: about 1 hour and 10 minutes).
Jeju Island is rightly known as one of the world's most stunning natural wonders. Besides being a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve (2002), part of the World Natural Heritage (2007), and a Global Geopark (2010), it's also the only self-governing province in South Korea.
Its landscape is a true symphony of extinct volcanoes, azure beaches, and fishing villages that keep the island's spirit alive. Stone statues – strange, mystical, almost lifelike – stand watch over every corner.
We will embark on a scenic tour of Jeju City, followed by something truly authentic – a traditional brewing experience. We’ll observe how a local alcoholic drink, typical of the island, is prepared, and of course, we'll taste it.
In the afternoon, we look forward to ascending to the peak of Seongsan Ilchulbong, also known as the ‘Sunrise Peak’ – where the first rays of sunlight appear every morning. Formed over 10,000 years ago by an underwater volcanic eruption, it now rises 182 metres above the sea, with a preserved crater 600 m in diameter and 99 m deep, surrounded by dramatic sheer cliffs.
The climb is about 1 km (30–40 minutes), and the descent takes around 20 minutes. The view from the top is more than rewarding – a sense of endless freedom and beauty.
Accommodation at Kensington Resort Seogwipo 4*.
Overnight on Jeju Island.
Day 5
Cliffs, Temples, Tea and Views to Infinity
After breakfast, we leave the hotel and start the day with one of the island's most impressive natural wonders – Jusangjeoli Cliff. We will explore them closely by motorboats, approaching the monumental stone columns shaped like cubes and hexagonal prisms, sculpted by lava during the eruption of Mount Hallasan. They look as if carved by human hands, but in fact, they are nature's creation.
After lunch, we will immerse ourselves in spiritual peace by visiting Yakcheonsa Buddhist Temple, one of the largest in Asia. With architecture combining strength and grace, the temple offers a chance for tranquillity and reflection among green hills.
We'll take a short photo break at Osulloc Tea Farm – the largest organic tea farm in Korea, known for its picturesque green fields and the aroma of freshly picked leaves.
We continue with a walk along Aewol Café Street, a charming area full of designer cafés, stylish interiors, and endless sea views. The Handam Coastal Trail and Gwakji Beach await us with crystal-clear air, waves, and incredible atmosphere.
Afterwards, we head to Jeju airport for an evening flight to Busan (approximately 1 hour).

Day 6
Busan – adrenaline, history, and views over the water
After breakfast, we leave the hotel and start the day with a rush of adrenaline – we're off sledding at Skyline Luge Busan, one of the most thrilling experiences in the city. The courses are perfect for both beginners and the more daring, with sea views as a bonus.
We continue to one of the few temples in Korea located right by the sea – the Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. Built in 1376 by the great Buddhist teacher Naong, the temple offers not only a spiritual atmosphere but also a spectacular view of the waves crashing against the rocks below.
After lunch, we head towards the colourful side of Busan – the Gamcheon Cultural Village. Created in the challenging years following the Korean War, today this artistic settlement is like a living gallery: hills painted in pastel colours, street art, small workshops, artistic cafés, and incredible views of the sea.
Afterwards, we'll take the cable car to reach the Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge – at 127 metres long, it offers a unique sensation of walking over water with breathtaking panoramas.
The finale of the day is at the legendary Jagalchi Fish Market – the largest fish market in Korea and one of the most famous in the world. Here, you'll discover an incredible variety of freshly caught fish and seafood – the perfect spot for curious palates and cameras.
Overnight: RAMADA ENCORE BY WYNDHAM HAEUNDAE 4*
Day 7
Underground Wonders and Digital Art
After breakfast, we leave the hotel and head northeast towards the Samcheok region – home to one of Korea's most stunning natural landmarks.
After lunch, an experience awaits that will literally take us below the surface – the Hwanseongul Cave, Korea's largest limestone cave and one of Asia's most expansive. Formed over 530,000 years ago, it offers breathtaking views of stalagmites, stalactites, stone pillars, underground waterfalls, and a total of ten lakes.
Its total length reaches 6.5 km, but 1.6 km is open for visitors. The entrance is accessible by monorail, which covers the route in about 7 minutes. Entering the cave, we'll feel like we're in an ancient underground city – its scale, shapes, and water wonders are truly impressive.
After the underground adventure, we head towards Gangneung, a seaside city on the eastern coast where we'll immerse ourselves in the world of digital art with a visit to the Arte Museum – a multimedia museum where sound, light, and projections create a completely new reality.
Accommodation at St. John Hotel.
Overnight stay in Gangneung.
Day 8
High Ropes, Wisdom, and Mountain Serenity
After breakfast, we kick off the day with something out of the ordinary – Aranabu Sky-Bike Riding. We'll have the chance to choose between descending on an alpine zip-line or cycling on a high wire above the ground – an experience guaranteed for daredevils and panorama lovers.
Next, we head back in time with a visit to Ojukheon House – the childhood home of Yi Yi (yes, that's really his name), one of the most renowned Korean Confucian scholars from the Joseon dynasty. The house is among the oldest wooden buildings in the country and is an important part of Korea's cultural heritage.
After lunch, weather permitting, we take a cable car to the majestic Mount Seorak – hailed as the most beautiful in South Korea. Towering amidst dramatic cliffs and evergreen forests, it houses a Buddhist temple where we'll spend a serene afternoon.
We'll stroll through the temple complex, get to know the monastic way of life, participate in a traditional tea ceremony, converse with Buddhist monks, and craft our own prayer beads – an experience that combines tranquillity, ritual, and mindfulness.
We end with a brief walk along the mountain trails before heading back to the St. John Hotel.
Overnight stay in Gangneung.
Day 9
Gangnam Style, heights and farewell, Korea
After breakfast, we leave the hotel and head back to Seoul, where we'll dive into the glamorous side of the South Korean capital.
Our first stop is Gangnam – the most famous and luxurious district in South Korea, a symbol of contemporary Korean lifestyle and global pop culture. The streets here are filled with designer boutiques, shimmering skyscrapers, and a city rhythm that never takes a pause.
We continue to Starfield Coex Mall – the largest underground shopping mall in Asia with over 300 shops and restaurants spread across four floors. One of the most photographed attractions in the entire mall is the renowned library with shelves soaring 13 metres high, a favourite spot for selfies and inspiration.
In the afternoon, we'll ascend to SEOUL SKY – the observatory located between the 117th and 123rd floors of Lotte World Tower, the tallest building in South Korea and the fifth tallest in the world (555 m). From here, it unveils a breathtaking panorama of the entire capital.
We'll stroll over the glass floor of the world's highest observatory, listed in the Guinness Book of Records, and have time for a quick snack or coffee at the charming Sky Terrace Café, at an altitude of 478 metres.
In the evening – transfer to Incheon Airport and departure for Bulgaria on a Turkish Airlines flight Seoul – Istanbul.

WHO WILL BE YOUR GUIDE?

Ivan Nikolov
Ivan's love for faraway travels began in 2009 with Nepal and the Everest Base Camp. From the cultural jolt in Kathmandu, a propeller plane on a runway where cows need to be cleared first, to an 18-day trek in the Himalayas, meeting Sherpas and Buddhist monks at over 3000 meters. Altitude sickness brought him down earlier than planned, but it gave him something more valuable – time to observe life beyond the route and realise that the real journey begins outside the comfort zone.
His life has always been tied to tourism – from education and years in hospitality, including six years as a hotel manager, to leading groups since 2018. He mainly travels in Asia, with dozens of visits to China, Japan, South Korea, and India, and a total of over 55 countries under his belt. For him, leading a group isn't a 9-to-6 job, but an opportunity to experience the world again and again – this time with the people who choose to join him.

We see ourselves as Tarzan tourists, organizing journeys to hard-to-reach places, encountering wild nature, and traveling by campers, catamarans, off-road jeeps, and even helicopters.
