Costa Rica
Experience the sheer joy of life amidst probably the richest nature you'll ever encounter.

WhyCosta RicaWhere to next?
The pure joy of life in the oasis of biodiversity
Welcome to the Rich Coast, as the country's name translates. Once so named for its abundance of gold, today Costa Rica enjoys a different, even more priceless treasure – its extraordinary biodiversity. The country occupies just 0.03% of the Earth's land surface (it's half the size of Bulgaria), yet it is home to around 5% of all animal and plant species in the world. Perhaps this lush nature is one reason why the locals are among the happiest on the planet.
At the heart of their philosophy is the concept of 'Pura Vida' (literally translated – 'Pure Life') – the idea of simple living, without stress, with a positive and relaxed attitude towards the world. Costa Ricans fully enjoy each day and use the phrase 'Pura Vida' in various contexts – as a replacement for 'hello' or in response to 'How are you?'. Come to Costa Rica to experience the pure joy of life amidst what is probably the richest nature you will ever encounter.

Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Costa Rica!
We land in San Jose, the capital of this small but astonishing country. This is where our journey begins. After the transfer to the hotel, we'll have time to relax and gear up for the adventures that await us. In the evening, we'll gather for a dinner of authentic Costa Rican cuisine and start getting to know each other.
Day 2
The adventure begins! Poás Volcano or the Enkanto Waterfall
Today, our true adventure begins! After breakfast, we'll head out to collect our 4x4 jeeps, which will be our home on wheels for the next nearly two weeks. On-site, we'll receive instructions on how to use the equipment—tents, kitchen, everything necessary for life in the wild.
Our first stop will be one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica—Poás (2708 m). If we're lucky with the weather, we'll catch a glimpse of its vast blue-green crater, one of the largest in the world. Should the fog hide the volcano, we'll head to the Encanto waterfall, where a fresh first encounter with the water and a beautiful view await us, just for us.
In the afternoon, we move on to our first campsite in the wilderness, where we'll enjoy the sunset and share a dinner under the stars.
Day 3
Trek in the Cloud Forest of Monteverde
This morning we venture into one of the most magical ecosystems on the planet – Santa Elena Cloud Forest. This place is a living museum of biodiversity – home to over 400 species of birds, including the majestic quetzal, a symbol of freedom for the Maya and the Aztecs.
We'll stroll on hanging bridges above the jungle, hear the mysterious sounds of nature, and witness flora and fauna that can't be seen anywhere else.
In the evening, we'll camp with a view of the mountain hills, and our host Fernando will greet us with traditional surprises!
Day 4
Off-road and Thermal River
Get ready for adrenaline! Today, we will cover 45 km off-road, crossing rivers, muddy roads, and wild terrains by the picturesque Lake Arenal.
Once we reach our first accommodation, where we won't be camping in the car tents, we'll be able to leave our luggage, enjoy lunch, and admire the majestic Arenal Volcano rising amidst the green jungle.
And in the afternoon – well-deserved relaxation in a natural thermal river springing from the Arenal Volcano itself. In the evening, pleasant stories await us, we'll order food and enjoy peace and comfort.
Day 5
Zipline over the jungle and trekking
Today's programme will start with a slow morning, breakfast, and then we'll head off for a two-hour walk into the Monteverde jungle to try and spot even more flora and fauna—something not to be missed here. Before going for lunch, however, we'll soar high above the jungle on a zipline—one of the most thrilling experiences in Costa Rica. We'll zoom along at over 60 km/h, covering more than 800 metres on one of the lines! Are you ready to fly above the jungle?
After this exhilarating adventure, we'll head to a local restaurant where we'll enjoy lunch with authentic Costa Rican flavours. The afternoon will be free, but for those who still have energy and a desire for more experiences, we'll suggest alternative activities.
In the evening, we'll gather again for delightful conversations and a tasty local dinner, sharing our impressions of the day.
Day 6
La Fortuna Waterfall and Alfonso's Mysterious Hideaway
Before leaving the Arenal area, we will visit one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Costa Rica – La Fortuna (70 m). Its waters cascade down volcanic rocks into a crystal-clear pool, perfect for a refreshing swim.
Then we are in for a two-hour journey and another 30 minutes of off-road adventure through rivers and steep paths to reach Alfonso's secret hideaway – a little paradise tucked away in the mountains. Our host will greet us with his homemade elixir, which strikingly resembles one very familiar to us.
The evening will be reserved for a very intriguing night-time experience with a local guide, who will walk us through the area, introducing us to the creatures that emerge in the jungle at night.
Day 7
A day off in the mysterious haven of Alfonso
After breakfast, we will embark on a short hike to the nearby waterfall, where we'll have the chance to immerse ourselves in its refreshing waters. Afterwards, we'll gather for a communal lunch, and the afternoon will be free for various activities. In the area, you can go horse riding, try zip-lining, and just a 20-minute drive away is a wildlife observation centre, where you can see different species of frogs, bats, and other exotic reptiles.
Day 8
By Boat Through the 'Little Amazon' – Tortuguero National Park
We will get up before dawn because today something special awaits us - Tortuguero, known as the 'Little Amazon'. It is the only national park in Costa Rica, accessible only by boat.
Along the park's canals, we will see monkeys, sloths, giant iguanas, caimans, crocodiles, and dozens of exotic birds.
We will climb the panoramic Cerro Tortuguero peak, from where we will enjoy views of endless jungles and the Caribbean Sea.
We continue in the afternoon with lunch and Tortuguero Beach, a sacred place for the sea turtles that lay their eggs here every year.
If time is on our side, the return by boat at sunset and then in darkness will be etched in your memory for a long time, we guarantee.
Day 9
Free time with an offer for an unforgettable rafting experience on the Pacuare River
Today is a day for adrenaline! We rise early, gear up, and head to the Pacuare River – one of the TOP 5 spots in the world for rafting! We'll navigate wild rapids of Class III and IV, bouncing over rocks and riding the river's flow, surrounded by impenetrable jungle.
For those who prefer to skip the rafting, there's a nearby sloth centre to visit, a waterfall close to our accommodation, a cacao farm, or you can simply head to the beautiful final destination where we'll sleep for the night.
Day 10
Coffee Farm and we head to the Pacific Ocean
After breakfast, we'll head to a traditional Costa Rican coffee farm, where we'll witness the cultivation and processing of some of the world's finest coffee. We'll try freshly roasted coffee, prepared using traditional methods.
Then we'll take a stretch of the legendary Pan-American Highway, which connects the northern reaches of America with the far south of Argentina.
On the way, we'll climb over 3,300 meters above sea level, crossing impressive mountain peaks on the highest paved road in Central America. From there, we'll continue to our final destination for the day – the campsite in close proximity to the Nauyaca Waterfalls.
Day 11
The Pacific Beaches of Dominical
After breakfast, we head to Nauyaca Waterfall – the last waterfall of our adventure in Costa Rica, and one of the most spectacular.
An hour-long trek through dense tropical rainforest will lead us to this majestic cascade, where the water cascades over the rocks like a natural amphitheatre, surrounded by lush greenery.
After a short time to enjoy the view and an opportunity to refresh, we continue to our next stop – Uvita Park. This enchanting place is known for its unique sandbar, which at low tide resembles a whale’s tail – a symbolic coincidence, as this is where humpback whales arrive each year to give birth to their young. Strolling among the golden beaches and coastal jungle will give us a chance to feel the magic of this place, where land and ocean merge into one.
With our senses soaked by the sea breeze, we head to our last stop for the day – the wild region of Bejuco, where we will spend our final nights under the stars, in tents, amidst Costa Rica’s untouched nature.
Day 12
The Crocodiles Over the Tárcoles River
Our day will begin slowly and leisurely, with a view of the endless ocean and the aroma of freshly baked tropical fruits. We'll savour our final breakfast amidst nature before sipping the last drops of morning serenity by the shore. There will be ample time to soak up the final rays of the sun, stroll along the beach, or simply dive into the refreshing waves.
In the afternoon, we'll pack up the tents for the last time, preserving the sense of adventure in our minds, and head back to San José. Along the way, we'll make a brief stop at the bridge over the Tarcoles River, one of the best spots for observing the giant crocodiles basking on the banks.
Afterwards, we will continue to our final destination to return the cars. From there, we will be taken to the hotel, where we will have time for a brief rest.
In the evening, we'll celebrate the end of our Costa Rican adventure with dinner in a typical local restaurant, where we'll try authentic flavours and share our last impressions from this unforgettable journey.
Day 13
Back home, with a soul full of adventures!
After breakfast, we'll have some free time to explore the small yet vibrant district of San Jose, Alajuela. We'll be able to leave our suitcases at the hotel and wander around for souvenirs, lunch, culture, and other fascinating things in the area.
