WhyMadeiraWhere to next?
A Paradise on Earth You'll Remember for a Lifetime
Many of us haven't been to Hawaii, but if there's another place in the world that comes close, it's Madeira.
Officially, and repeatedly named the best island destination in the world, this is a slice of Paradise, just within our reach.
We invite you on yet another unique journey - ten days filled with nature walks and breathtaking views. Hikes from the ocean to the skies - from the highest cliffs in Europe to mountain ridges and sunsets above the clouds.
In Madeira, eternal spring reigns, and the colours you'll soak in will make every other destination pale in comparison. Each day there is magical, and each trek will bring new emotions. We'll visit the enchanted forests of Fanal, swim in natural volcanic pools, and see waterfalls cascading directly into the Atlantic Ocean.
We’ll be left speechless, but we'll fill our hearts with emotion and our phones with pictures.
Is this journey meant for you?
Challenge
Comfort
Nature
Culture
If you love losing yourself in green and finding yourself in blue - Madeira is your place.
This journey is for you if you dream of hikes that start from the ocean and end above the clouds. If you love dramatic cliffs, misty forests, and waterfalls that plunge into the abyss. If your heart skips a beat at the sight from 600 meters high, yet you can also enjoy a glass of wine in silence, with barefoot toes on the terrace.
Madeira is for those who seek not luxury, but a feeling. For the people who know that the best spots aren't seen from the car park, but reached after a little climb and a lot of 'wow'. If you believe that nature can heal and inspire – it's already waiting for you there.

The Haikus
Hiking from Ocean to Clouds
Madeira is not an island you merely visit – it's a place you climb. We will start near the foam of the waves, ascend steep paths, through breathtaking views, verdant ridges, and deep valleys. We will climb to places where the clouds roll over the slopes, and witness the Atlantic Ocean merging with the horizon. We will greet the sunset high above, with clothes soaked from moisture and wind, but with a feeling that we are at a place where nature both embraces – and challenges – you simultaneously. This is not just a walk. This is a discovery. Of oneself. Of heights. Of a new perspective.

The Enchanted Forests
The Forests of Fanal – Like a Dream, But Real
Sometimes the world seems a bit too real to be beautiful. And sometimes – as it is in Fanal – it’s so beautiful, it doesn’t seem real at all. This is a place where the mist drapes itself between the thick branches of ancient laurel trees, and the grass is a kind of green that only appears after the rain. There’s no noise, unless you count your own breathing or the very quiet 'wow' you whisper at every turn. No throngs of tourists, just sheep and magic. We’ll lose ourselves in a forest that looks like a scene from a movie – but you’ll know you’re truly there, with wet shoes and a full heart.
Accommodation
A Home Full of Stories
This isn't just where we'll sleep – it's our home above the ocean. Throughout the journey, we'll stay together in cosy villas in Cabo Girão Village, perched atop one of Europe's highest sea cliffs - 600 metres above the ocean.
We'll have everything we need: spacious rooms, fully equipped kitchens, a pool, jacuzzi, and a place where conversations continue late into the night. This is where friendships are born, inside jokes are made, and plans for the next adventure take shape. And although we'll tread many paths, the best place often turns out to be exactly this – the shared home at the end of the day.

Itinerary
The weather in Madeira is unpredictable, and there’s always some rain somewhere on the island each day. We are the only travel group that won’t follow a set itinerary; instead, we’ll adapt our program according to the weather. We know the island inside out and will organize the activities and hikes so that we’re in the best conditions for each hike, showcasing the island’s most stunning views.
Day 1
Cabo Girão
We gather at Sofia Airport to fly to Madeira. At noon, we land at Madeira Airport and head straight to one of the island's most magnificent viewpoints – Cabo Girao.
Cabo Girão is the highest cliff above the ocean in Europe. So high, in fact, that some people even jump off it with parachutes and squirrel suits. We'll visit many other places during our journey, but only here is there a glass-floored terrace, so you can enjoy the view fully and safely.
To make our happiness complete, the villas where we'll stay for the entire week are here. Besides the phenomenal sunrises and sunsets that Cabo Girão Villas will reward us with, the resort offers many amenities – outdoor and indoor pools, sauna, jacuzzi, tennis, mini-golf, billiards, and more.
Cabo Girão is a 20-minute drive from the centre of Funchal. If you decide to explore the city on your own, there is regular transport, as well as a local Uber-type app, priced like Sofia taxis.
The area also offers several hiking trails that are perfect for a morning walk.
Day 2
Hawaiian Views
One of our favourite hikes will guide us through the northeastern part of Madeira, where most of the sheer cliffs and grand island panoramas are found.
Get ready for an enjoyable 14km hike and some of the most spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean you'll ever see in your lifetime.
Day 3
Infinity pools by the edge of the ocean
To take a break from the long trek, we'll spend a day touring the island and taking gentle strolls.
We'll visit Ponta do Sao Jorge, where we'll have the chance to walk along the coastal cliffs and watch the waves crashing below us.
Along the way, we'll stop briefly at one of our favourite waterfalls – Veu da Novia, which cascades from the Madeira cliffs directly into the ocean.
We'll pass by Seixal and Porto Moniz, where you'll have the opportunity to dip into the famous natural pools of Madeira. It probably won't be very warm, but that never stops all the tourists.
As the cherry on top, we'll reach one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the western coast and a secret Instagram spot for the perfect photo.
Day 4
At the Top of the Island - from Areiro to Ruivo
PR1 is one of the most famous and legendary hikes in the world.
It takes us along the ridge of the Madeiran mountains and gifts us with numerous views between the island's two highest peaks - Pico Areiro & Pico Ruivo.
This trail is one of the most challenging, yet one of the most rewarding - it's only 16km long, but with an elevation of 1400m and plenty of stairs along the way.
However, we know how to adapt it to be easier and to avoid moving with the large crowds.
We'll try to choose the best day according to the forecast, which might unveil numerous rainbows along the path and majestic views above the clouds.
Day 5
Pico Grande
In the central parts of the island lies Cural das Freitas – the town of nuns. It is one of the main attractions near Funchal and is easily accessible, but we will take the day to hike above it.
We will trek through the mountains and reach Pico Grande – one of Madeira's high peaks, from where we can enjoy a panoramic view over the ocean and see Cural das Freitas through the mists.
Day 6
Ponta do Sao Lourenco
Today, we will visit the easternmost point of the island.
We'll have the chance to walk along the sheer cliffs of Sao Lourenco, featured on every souvenir postcard.
There are alternative trails here, resulting in round-trip treks between 7-10km.
Day 7
Funchal and Monte Palace
Funchal is the capital of Madeira and the largest city on the island. It's worth dedicating at least a whole day to it, to feel the essence of their urban life and to immerse yourself in the charming narrow streets.
The main goal will be to take the cable car to Monte Palace – one of the largest tropical gardens you will ever see. There, we will mark March 8th among millions of flowers, African statues, and have a close encounter with precious stones and diamonds. The tropical garden offers 70,000 square meters of space for walking, so you'll have all the time to enjoy it.
This is our main goal for the day – the remaining time is for free activities. If returning by cable car, taxi, or bus is too dull for you, you can pay for Madeira's unique toboggan ride and be taken down the street without brakes.
You can use the rest of the day to stroll along the coast of Funchal, visit city parks, the cathedral, the Cristiano Ronaldo Museum, or simply relax.
Day 8
Rabakal
One of the most popular hikes in the Rabacal area and on Madeira as a whole is the walk to 25 Fontes.
We know how to combine it with a detour to the Risco waterfall, which cascades down from a height of 100m. To complete the adventure, we will also pass through one of the longest tunnels on the island – 800m long.
You might want to prepare a headlamp. There are many ways to take this hike, so together we'll decide whether to take the longer route or shorten it. The total length of the longer route is 10km and is estimated to take 4.5 hours without breaks.
Day 9
Meadows and Waterfalls
On this day, we will enjoy a pleasant walk along the levada to two waterfalls – Nova & Moinho. The trek will take us about 4 hours and will lead us through 9km of steep canals and another long tunnel.
After the trek, we will pass by the sunniest spot on the island – Ponta do Sol, and stop for a few photos at the stone bridge. For a change, we will wash the car at the angelic waterfall – Anjos, which falls directly onto the coastal road. You might want to prepare your swimsuits because most people there get out of the car and take a refreshing cold shower.
If time permits, we can go see the 140-meter Garganita Funda waterfall and enjoy a sunset over Miraduro do Fio, where there's a small restaurant.
An alternative plan would be to head back up towards Rabacal and hope for a sunset above the clouds. Fortunately, we know the best spots for this.
Day 10
The Enchanted Fanal Forest
On this day, we'll wander along one of Rabacal's long trails and pass through misty, damp, and chilly jungles to reach the Fanal forest – the renowned mystical woods, where with a bit of luck, the fog will add an enchanting touch to our photos.
This trek is about 10 km, so if we're tired from previous days, we'll head straight to the forest, allowing us more time to explore and capture the astounding natural beauty.
We end this day hoping for a view above the clouds that will unveil the island’s entire eastern part in all its glory, or veil it in a white cloak of clouds.
Day 11
Flight to Bulgaria
We wake up filled with wonderful emotions and beautiful memories, greeting our last sunrise on Madeira for this trip. Today, there will be a little time for free activities and packing, before we head back to Sofia.
* Panic Frame & Travel reserves the right to adapt and change the program according to changes in accommodation conditions, climate, and other factors that require it.

Of course, we'll be taking ours too :) In Madeira, European laws and rules for flying drones apply, and the views are even more breathtaking from above.

How will we get around the island?
We'll be travelling by rented vans. Most journeys are within an hour's drive one way. Alternatively, if you need transport, you can use public transport, a taxi, or the Bolt app, which works like Uber – easy to order and pay online.

WHY TRAVEL WITH US?
Who are we?
Panic Frame & Travel is not a commercial travel agency. We don't offer you tranquility, tickets, or accommodation in an all-inclusive hotel with white tablecloths. We see ourselves as Tarzan tourists, organizing journeys to hard-to-reach places, encountering wild nature, and traveling by campers, catamarans, off-road jeeps, and even helicopters.
