The bravest thing you can do? Allow yourself to escape - solo
Embark solo. No roles. Just for yourself. Singles Only: Tenerife.
Konstantin
Interview with Konstantin – one of the leaders of Singles Only: Tenerife
You don't need to be looking for a woman to travel alone. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Singles Only: Tenerife isn’t a matchmaking spot, it's about that delightful feeling when you're by yourself, know no one, but something within you switches on – that mode where life becomes interesting again. No stress here, just people who have decided to test themselves in a new environment, step out of their usual roles, breathe in the ocean's salt, have a laugh, get moving, and relax.
We ask Konstantin what exactly happens when you gather a group of people on an island who don't know each other but are all ready to be a bit braver than they expected.
What changes in people when they travel alone? Do you notice a moment where they 'click'?
The mindset shifts – that it’s actually not scary to travel alone. No one's giving them strange looks, pointing fingers, some even admire their courage. And the 'click' occurs when they allow themselves to shed those masks they usually wear in the world. There, among strangers, it somehow becomes easier to be... just yourself.
Many people think it's frightening to leave knowing no one. What do you tell them on the first day – and what do you see in them at the end?
I tell them it takes a lot of courage to jump into such an adventure alone. And at the end? In each and every one, I see it won’t be their last solo journey.
What is the most special thing about the Singles Only format that you can't experience anywhere else?
The way of meeting, getting to know, and connecting with others – it’s why many long-lasting friendships form here, and sometimes, even more.
How do you create an environment where people relax, drop their masks, and simply... allow themselves to be?
When we, the team, lead the dance – when we show our true selves, raw and real, sometimes quirky and spiky, but honest and sincere.
Is there a moment from Tenerife that you will remember for a long time? The one where you say – that was magic.
When we landed after more than 12 hours of travel, there was a dreadful delay with the rental. We all stood in front of the airport in Tenerife, watching the sunset, and even though some participants could move to the house with the ready cars, everyone agreed to move together. This – against the backdrop of the sunset, sea breeze, and cold beer – was magic for the soul.
How important is the destination itself – or is it actually the people that make the place?
People make the place, definitely. But when it's already paradise – it becomes Divine!
What do participants discover about themselves, without even looking for it?
How little they know about themselves... and the opposite gender!
Has it ever happened that people who would never think they'd get along end up being the closest?
Absolutely – they’re my absolute favourites. At first, they look at each other like cats and dogs, and by the end, they finish each other's sentences. Not always where there's tension is there a spark... but often it's right there – where the most frowns happen, later become the most laughter.
What is the most common fear people have when they come – and how does it melt away during the trip?
That they won't be liked for who they are. Over time, through shared moments, games, practices – they start to accept themselves more. And once that happens, others see them with new eyes.
What would you say to someone reading this interview and thinking: “Maybe this is for me, but…”?
The last time I said that to myself and still went, I came back with a fiancée. Yes, I left with a girlfriend and a ring in my pocket, but... those are details.
And yourself – why do you do it? What drives you to create these trips?
For the farewell hugs. In them, I feel everything I need – gratitude, meaning, a new perspective, hope.
If you could explain Singles Only in one word, but it shouldn't be 'love', 'freedom', or 'adventure' – what would it be?
Stirring!
Men don't always admit they want a restart. But on this island, among new faces, ocean sunsets, and unexpected conversations – that's exactly what happens. No noise, no drama, no unnecessary explanations.
The next trip is in November. You don't need company.
You only need yourself.
