The bravest thing you can do? Allow yourself to escape - solo

Embark solo. No roles. Just for yourself. Singles Only: Tenerife.

Interview with Konstantin – one of the guides at Singles Only: Tenerife

You don't need to find a woman to go on a solo trip. In fact – quite the opposite. Singles Only: Tenerife is not a SPOT for "matchmaking," but rather for that delightful feeling when you're alone, know no one, yet something inside you switches on – that mode where life becomes interesting again. There will be no pressure here, just people who have decided to test themselves in a new environment, to step out of the usual role, to inhale the ocean's salt, to laugh, to move, and to relax.

We ask Konstantin what exactly happens when you gather a group of strangers on an island who are all ready to be braver than they'd expected.

What changes in people when they travel alone? Do you notice a moment when they "click"?

The mindset changes – it turns out it's not so scary to travel solo. Nobody looks at them funny, no one points fingers, some even admire their courage. And the "click" comes when they allow themselves to drop those masks with which they usually present themselves to the world. There, among strangers, it somehow becomes easier to be... just yourself.

Many people think it's frightening to leave without knowing anyone. What do you tell them on the first day – and what do you see in them on the last day?

I tell them it takes quite a bit of courage to jump into such an adventure alone. And in the end? In each and every one, I see that this won't be their last solo journey.

What is the most special thing about the Singles Only format that you can't experience anywhere else?

The way of meeting, getting to know, and connecting with another – that's why many long-lasting friendships form here, and sometimes even something more.

How do you create an environment where people relax, drop their masks, and simply... allow themselves to be?

When we, the team, take the lead – when we show our true selves, real, unfiltered, sometimes awkward and prickly, but honest and straightforward.

Is there a moment from Tenerife that you will remember for a long time? The one when you think – that was magic.

When we landed after more than 12 hours of travel, there was a terrible delay with the rental. Everyone stood outside Tenerife airport, watching the sunset, and even though some participants could head to the house with the available cars, everyone said they'd move together. That – against the backdrop of the sunset, the sea breeze, and cold beer – was magic for the soul.

How important is the destination itself – or is it the people who make the SPOT?

The people make the SPOT, undoubtedly. But when the SPOT is already heavenly – it becomes Divine!

What do participants discover about themselves, without even looking for it?

How little they know about themselves... and the opposite sex!

Has it ever happened that people who never would have thought they'd get along – turn out to be the closest?

Oh yes – they're my absolute favourites. At first, they look at each other like cat and dog, but in the end, they finish each other's sentences. Not always where there's tension hides a spark... but often it’s precisely there – where they frown the most, they then laugh the most.

What is the most common fear people come with – and how does it melt during the journey?

That they won't be liked for who they are. Over time, through shared moments, games, practices – they begin to accept themselves more. And once that happens, others see them with new eyes.

What would you say to someone reading this interview and thinking: “Maybe I’m supposed to be there too, but…”?

The last time I thought that and still went, I came back with a fiancée. Yes, I left with a girlfriend and a ring in my pocket, but… those are details.

And you yourself – why do you do it? What drives you to create these trips?

Because of the goodbye hugs. In them, I feel everything I need – gratitude, meaning, a new perspective, hope.

If you could describe Singles Only in one word, and it shouldn't be “love,” “freedom,” or “adventure” – what would it be?

Shake-up!

Men don't always admit they want to restart. But on this island, among new faces, ocean sunsets, and unexpected conversations – that's exactly what happens. Without noise, without drama, without unnecessary explanation.

The next trip is in November. You don’t need company.

You only need yourself.
