How to get to Sørvágsvatn?
The lake is located on the island of Vágar, very close to the Faroese airport.
The start of the trail is near the village of Miðvágur.
The hiking trail to the panorama point takes about 1.5–2 hours one way – a light and pleasant hike that passes alongside the lake itself.
Finally, you reach the cliffs above the ocean, where the view literally takes your breath away.
When is the best time to visit Sørvágsvatn?
Spring and summer (May–August) – long days, soft light, and green slopes.
Early autumn – fewer tourists, dramatic skies, and still pleasant conditions for hikes.
However, the Faroe Islands are famous for their unpredictable weather. The wind, fog, and rain can change within minutes – part of the charm of this wild place.
